e180: Christine Renaud
Revolutionizing the way we learn
Christine Renaud is one of the faces of innovation in Quebec. Her company, e180, co-founded nearly 10 years ago with Alexandre Spaeth, has developed an innovative peer learning and professional networking solution called Braindate®.
The Braindate concept is simple: e180 connects users who need knowledge with others who have that knowledge (sewing, designing furniture, building a business plan, etc.). The amazing platform quickly won over major international event players following a successful partnership with C2MTL in 2013, and they have been fighting over its innovative design ever since.
“Learning is not just about acquiring new knowledge or skills, it is a transformation that affects our identity, our habits, our emotions and, ultimately, how we connect with others and the world around us,” said Christine Renaud.
Putting people first
Human contact is without a doubt what sets the e180 concept apart: a real connection between two people. It is about sharing experiences over coffee or discussing a common passion over lunch.
For Christine Renaud, the added value of Braindates lies in building meaningful relationships between two participants who have much to learn from each other. A B Corp-certified company with some 30 employees, this Montréal-based business has adopted a manifesto of humanist values that promotes, among other things, gender inclusion and the importance of diversity.
Tailored braindates for teleworkers
Forced by the pandemic, e180 has propelled its platform into the virtual world in one fell swoop and saved a number of its prestigious international clients. To prevent the spread of COVID-19, e180’s clientele had to rethink many events.
Unified in facing this challenge, the company proposed virtual braindates, an innovative learning solution based on its existing platform. In just a few weeks, demand exploded! For event organizers, it is an effective virtual alternative for sharing knowledge. For employers, it is a way to connect their teleworkers and help them find solutions to their emerging issues.
e180 has grown in leaps and bounds and now has a presence all around the world. Within the context of the pandemic, it has shown that with flair, the right tools and a remarkable team, anything is possible. “You have to act in accordance with your values, follow your instincts and know what kind of environment you need. You have to surround yourself with people who sometimes believe in it more than you do!” concluded Christine Renaud.
In February 2020, CED met with Christine Renaud, President, CEO and Head of Training for e180. This young, trilingual businesswoman is one of the faces of innovation in Quebec. A visionary, she has won numerous entrepreneurship awards throughout her career.
CED asked Christine Renaud how she viewed the place of women in technology and her opinion on diversity in the workplace.
